I graduated from Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 2001, and have 25 years of experience helping clients with the challenging, often frightening task of achieving their potential. When people come into my office, they are usually stuck. Stuck in destructive, out of control behaviors. Stuck in ways of coping with past traumas that are not allowing them to move forward. Stuck in fear that their sexuality might be in conflict with other parts of their identity. Their distress at being stuck is palpable, as is their motivation to move forward with their lives. It is this motivation I begin with, the strength it takes to honestly face what isn't working. Together, we can transform being stuck into flying free.
Exploring sexuality can be fraught, internal truths colliding with familial or communal pressure, deeply held belief system feeling like it's in conflict with a core part of the self. My goal in working with LGBTQ identifying clients from religious communities is to help them develop a unique sense of integrity in a way that works for them, free of preconceived notions or agendas.
For trauma, I am trained in EMDR and IFS. I use them, along with narrative techniques, to help clients not just process their experiences, but move through and change the limiting self beliefs and behaviors that often develop from traumatic experiences.
Sex addiction can be scary, overtaking your life and the life of your family. I use Dr. Carnes' breakthrough treatment protocol with both addicts and their partners, in individual and group modalities.
I've recently introduced KAP (Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy) into my practice, a cutting edge treatment for trauma and depression.
I am fluent in both Hebrew and Yiddish, as well as culturally fluent with the Orthodox and Chasidic Jewish communities.
